"Is infamy the path to immortality?" Or... "Why do people have to be such asshats?"

Before I really get into the meat of the matter I suppose I should put up a little disclaimer here.  I am man who is in any way shape or form overly passionate about anything other than a good story.  That being said I do not follow politics, religion, sports, celebrity news, or a good chunk of pop culture.  I do not have enough strength in my arsenal to defend anyone or anything except my own point of view and even then I will back down in the event that I am proven wrong.  What I am about to discuss is not meant to slander or scandalize religion or faith in general, but rather ask a general question of "Why?"

I just recently watched a, i think you could call it a movie but it was more of a special, in which Kevin Smith, a noted director and actor performed a Q & A segment in Texas after his release of the movie Red State.  I have not watched every movie this man has made but I will say that I have enjoyed what I've seen and even own afew of his titles, top of the list DOGMA.  In this special one person asked him a question revolving around how the movie Red State came about and he went on to talk about a friend of his who did a documentary and even an interview with a very notable member of a christian family, the Phelps Family.  I never really knew about the Phelps family until hearing about them there but they are apparently a very faithful family, in that their faith tells them they should picket soldier's funerals and various other places with placards saying things like "God hates Fags" and other messages of hate.  Needless to say the story that Mr. Smith was going on about was revolving around his movies and his instances of being protested, said in a very humorous manner with lots of profanity, but needless to say it got me thinking...

Is this the full extent of their agenda, holding up signs saying "God hates ______" and singing songs about how we're all sinners bound for hell?  Or is there something more going on.  Pardon the expression but we are living in a godless time, and by that I mean we have basically separated the church from a good chunk of every day life.  We, in this country and in afew other nations around the world, have mostly gotten the church out of our sex lives, our government, our music, our jobs... the list could really go on.  Back in the early days it was everywhere and if you ever went against the word of these holy men you could wind up being put to death in unspeakably horrible ways.  It is because of this that I wonder if the Phelps Family is trying to basically keep "God" relevant.  It seems like if anything is done in the name of god or the church anymore nobody really notices unless it is something horrible.  Church charities go on daily and we may participate but what gets the most press, a Priest molesting young boys.  It seems that the more vile the act or the speech the farther it travels the longer we remember it, and it hasn't just been the church either.  We will never forget the names of Charles Manson, Ted Bundy, Adolf Hitler, Vlad the Impaler... why?  Because of the acts they committed!  All the good we phase out, but the evil we remember!

Not only that but our fight against these people makes them even more powerful, not by making them right, but by letting people know that they still exist.  I mean granted hearing about the Kevin Smith counter-protest is really a smart way to go, but honestly I think that the best way to react is to do nothing.

I have the feeling that people who read that last sentence are scratching their head so let me kindof elaborate.  By reacting and fighting back they still get their message heard for good or ill.  People will hear about the Family who protests gay marriages and tells us we are all going to hell, and they'll tell other people, and they will live on letting them influence our daily lives... when really we can do nothing, ignore them, do not even recognize their existence because in the end this is our lives and we shouldn't even acknowledge that they have a say in it.  I'm not saying we shouldn't defend ourselves when the situation calls for it in order to defend our lives or the life of someone else.  But when it comes to arguments over the way we live, even if we react and fight back and counter-protest, they still gain ground.

Waking up again

Okay, so I know I said I was going to try and post something on my favorite show supernatural... I said this sometime before season seven came out... turns out life is full of "oh shit" moments that keep you from keeping your commitments.

In any case things have just been busy; had a new job then I lost it, back to the old job because it won't let me go, still with the same girl and she's had problems, dodging the storm of projectile cow-shit.

I still intend on reviewing the show and maybe even a couple of shows... but instead of an episodic posting I may just narrow it down to the season overall.  And as I fully intend to do so I will simply add my two cents on Season 7 as non-spoilerish as possible.  Not as epic as previous seasons but it still kept my interest.

Other than that I want to do something with this that wont devolve into what my livejournal became... a whole bunch of bitching about my everyday life.

More to come later, have fun, bye.

Screw with all the colors of the wind.

I am by no means an experienced man when it comes to sex.  That being said I am somewhat impressed by the amount of sexual fetishes there are out there.  It is because of this that I honestly believe that we need to have an ID card for kinks and fetishes.

Okay perhaps I should elaborate a little bit.  Everyone out there has something that turns them on that may shy away from the normal.  Gay or Straight depending on what way your own personal compass needle points the generalized norm is that you get turned on by whomever it is you get turned on by; Guys or Girls.  And that's fine!  But unless you have one hell of an icebreaker I doubt that on the first couple of dates you break out the whole "I am turned on by _______"!  This is honestly why I believe that we should have an ID card, though I will admit I don't think ANYBODY wants to go through the DMV or any sort of government run building, but it would just make that whole 'compatibility' thing we all search for when trying to find a life-mate so much more simpler.

It could even be broken down into afew categories to make it simple.  Likes, Interests, curiosities, and dislikes.

Personally there really isn't a whole lot that I do that can be out of the norm.  But I suppose that is all based on speculation at this point.  But as far as curiosities and interests boy do I ever have a growing list.  I think I should cut off my porn stash for a time.

Supernatural review pt 1.

Hey there,
I'm sure nobody out there is really reading this yet but that's really no big deal at this point.  In any case I'm going to start a review of a series that is generally full of AWESOME... but before that a bit of background on me.

I LOVE monster movies!
I grew up obsessing about GODZILLA and other toho monsters, I watched my first 'scary' movie when I was like 6, and to this day I practically do the pre-teen SQUEEE every time I see a decent movie coming out.  There are some cheap-ass ones out there... pretty much anything that has graced the Sci-Fi... oops I mean SyFy (are they still serious about that crap) channel.  But I still think I have a pretty high tolerance to crap... well higher than most.  Because of this TV series that basically had the premise of a monster of the week show were my crack.  During Highschool I was obsessed with Tremors: The Series, before that I was a Whedon fan with Buffy and Angel, and even cartoons growing up I focused on the big scary monsters that I viewed the same way a little girl looks at unicorns.  I love MONSTERS!

It's because of that that I found my new CRACK which is SUPERNATURAL.  It started off as your basic monster of the week show with a very awesome story line.  A father and his two boys lose their mother in a most horrific way... she is up on the ceiling as she bursts into flames.  As the authorities are taking care of the collateral damage you can see the mixture of loss in his eyes and as well as the anger and determination to find out what did this and to kill it.  Fast forward 22 years later and the boys are all grown up and they and their daddy are full blown monster hunters... not the most stable of family lives mind you but after something that big happening you can tell that a normal family life just isn't part of the equation.  Episode one establishes season 1's main story arc which is the two brothers Dean (the oldest) and Sam (the youngest) trying to find their father who has been on a hunt and missing for some time.  It keeps up the awesome through the episodes and even gives a nifty little cliff-hanger at the end of season 1 just to keep you wanting to find out what happens next.

I'd give more spoilers out but then I wouldn't have anything to write about.

So, I will leave you with the knowledge that I will be hopefully be writing a review for every episode of season 1 and if all goes well I will be doing the same for the other 5 seasons (continuing hopefully with season 7 when they start putting out episodes in september.)

Until then... "Okay, be good!"

First day in a new place

Well hello out there in Internet Land.

I have not blogged in forever so I figured I'd start up again.  I was on livejournal for a while however because I haven't posted in quite a  number of years and really don't want to bother trying to remember my password for that place I'm just going to leave it alone and start fresh.

Another Reason why I'm starting fresh is because my old blog turned into my angsting or whining about things that have been happening in my personal life.  And the last year of posting I think revolved around my girlfriend or just my love life in general.  In any case I am trying to step as far away from that as I possibly can.  I'm going to try and step away from my personal life when I can at all help it and instead do something.  Maybe reviewing.  Hell I've got a whole wall full of movies and TV series practically so why not do that.  In time I'm sure I'll figure something to do with this little wafer thin slice of the web.

More to come later but for now I am always open to relative questions and constructive comments and criticism.

And in the words of White Pantera "Okay be good!"
